President Dr. Jack Schutte, our three Speech Contest Winners, and Chaparral High School teacher Thea Titzer. Hasna Manghi, next to Dr. Schutte, came in first and was sent on to the district elimination contest, where she won $300 and was chosen as one of the five finalists to speak at the Rotary District Conference in June, 2010. We were very proud of her!
Thanks to our judges!
This event was first held in our own Rotary District 5330, started by the Yucaipa Rotary Club. It has now spread throughout most of the Rotary districts. Each club holds its own contest, receiving cash prizes, and the finalists compete at the annual District Conference. We have had some outstanding orators. Each speech is crafted by the high school student on various subjects, but the speech must include the Rotary Four Way Test in what they have to say. Every week the Temecula Sunrise Rotary club members recite theFour Way Test, of the things we think, say or do: 1st - Is it the truth? 2nd - Is it fair to all concerned? 3rd - Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4th - Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
